AC Shadows Reveals Bizarre AoT Crossover for Thanksgiving
In a unexpected collaboration that breaks usual forecasts, Ubisoft has revealed an in-game crossover between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the popular anime series Attack on Titan. The surprising holiday event operates from November 25 through December 22, providing free extra story content for Shadows players.
Peculiar Mission Disclosed
According to the authorized release, "A strange confrontation draws heroes Naoe and Yasuke into a new mission, where whispers of forbidden practices and terrifying changes echo through the shadows." The narrative introduces a "unusually dressed woman named Ada" who tasks the duo with traveling into the Crystalline Cavern—a important location from Attack on Titan—to rescue her friend from a secret cult.
The questline focuses on "strange tests and a fearsome adversary" and is accessible to all players who have gained access to the Yasuke character.
Iconic Places and Metamorphoses
The trailer showcases the Underground Chapel from Attack on Titan redesigned as the Crystal Cave. This important location was formerly where the Reiss royal family passed down the Founding Titan ability through eras. The preview ends with a striking sequence showing a character, likely the hostage, transforming into a Titan that rises over Naoe and Yasuke.
Special Rewards and Additional Features
Players who successfully complete the quest will receive an unique katana together with several items concealed throughout the area in hidden chests. The update also features premium Attack on Titan item packs, offering:
- Titan-inspired costume for Yasuke
- Mikasa attire for Naoe
- Unique weapons
- Survey Corps vehicle
Third Free Story Update
This release also introduces the game's newest complimentary story content, titled "The Enigma." This playful quest pairs Naoe and Yasuke as they trade characteristic skills: Naoe debuts a dramatic interpretation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke masters non-lethal stealth takedowns. Loyal to its name, "The Enigma" also contains a fresh environmental puzzle that may ultimately shed light on some unresolved questions from the main storyline.
Earlier Japanese Animation Partnerships
This marks scarcely the primary time the Assassin's Creed franchise has crossed over with famous anime properties. The series earlier included a 2020 collaborative story connecting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Moreover, Valhalla informally contained a quest that obviously echoed the famous series One-Punch Man.
